Dr. Pellom McDaniels, III was a renowned athlete, scholar, poet, and curator. This exhibition focuses on McDaniels as an artist and showcases work he produced over decades. The pieces featured grapple with themes of memory, race, U.S. neocolonialism, and spirituality.
Through varying mediums and subject matter, McDaniels channels a creative energy that both informs the spectator of this world’s perilous past and present, but also reminds us of the strength, beauty and light that black people have always possessed, especially in the face of darkness.
